INITIAL SITUATION:

Existing on-premises structures behaved too rigidly in a rapidly growing and agile market such as the wind energy industry. In order to meet the requirements of the market, flexible and scalable solutions were essential.

SOLUTION:

The decision was made in favor of modern cloud solutions (Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365) in order to eliminate the existing restrictions of the on-premises structures. Great importance was attached to the problem-free and fail-safe migration of the existing systems.

Result:

Die AG Reederei Norden-Frisia ist ein Unternehmen mit einer Flotte von 15 Fähren, CTVs und Schnellbooten. Das Kerngeschäft ist die Beförderung von Personen und Gütern zu den Nordseeinseln Norderney und Juist. Zusätzlich arbeitet die AGRNF daran, neue Geschäftsfelder zu erschließen und die Servicekette einer gesamten Urlaubs- und Arbeitsreise laufend zu erweitern.

Ausgangslage:

Nach ca. 10 Jahren Einsatzzeit waren die Server- und Clientsysteme am Ende ihrer Lebenszeit angekommen. Durch die stetig und schnell wachsenden neuen Anforderungen waren auch die Speicherkapazitäten der Mail- und Fileserver erschöpft.

Lösung:

Mit einer Erneuerung der Systeme sollten die alten Serveranlagen durch performantere Systeme ersetzt und technisch bedingte Einschränkungen für Zugriffe von externen Standorten eliminiert werden. Um auch hier den eigenen Kriterien in Sachen Nachhaltigkeit, Umweltschutz und Green IT nachzukommen, sollte eine Migration auf eine moderne Plattform erfolgen.
Deswegen fiel die Entscheidung auf die modernen Cloudlösungen Microsoft Azure und Microsoft 365. Auf eine möglichst problemfreie und ausfallsichere Migration der vorhandenen Systeme wurde hier größter Wert gelegt und war durch die gute Dokumentation und Dienstleistungen zu jeder Zeit gewährleistet.

Ergebnis:

Mit Abschluss der Migration stehen der AG Reederei Norden-Frisia nun alle relevanten Microsoft-Produkte zu jeder Zeit zur Verfügung. Durch die Bereitstellung von Infrastruktur und Serversystemen über Microsoft Azure sowie Office-Lizenzverwaltung durch Microsoft 365 können sowohl die IT-Mitarbeiter als auch die klassischen Anwender sehr schnell und flexibel auf sich verändernde Anforderungen reagieren.

AG Reederei Norden-Frisia is a company with a fleet of 15 ferries, CTVs and speedboats. The core business is the transport of people and goods to the North Sea islands of Norderney and Juist. In addition, the AGRNF is working on opening up new business areas and continuously expanding the service chain for an entire vacation and work trip.

INITIAL SITUATION:

After around 10 years of operation, the server and client systems had reached the end of their life. Due to the constantly and rapidly growing new requirements, the storage capacities of the mail and file servers were also exhausted.

In addition to the problems on the hardware side, the rapidly growing digitization has created the requirement to be able to work at any time and from anywhere. The existing technical facilities were only partially designed for this and should be converted accordingly.

With a renewal of the systems, the old server systems should be replaced by more powerful systems and technical restrictions for access from external locations should be eliminated. In order to meet your own criteria in terms of sustainability, environmental protection and green IT, a migration to a modern platform should take place.
That is why the decision was made in favor of the modern cloud solutions Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. Great importance was attached to a problem-free and fail-safe migration of the existing systems and was guaranteed at all times by the good documentation and services.

RESULT:

With the completion of the migration, AG Reederei Norden-Frisia now has all relevant Microsoft products at its disposal at all times. Thanks to the provision of infrastructure and server systems via Microsoft Azure and Office license management via Microsoft 365, both IT staff and classic users can react very quickly and flexibly to changing requirements.

In the course of digitization, Volkswind GmbH aimed for a cloud-first strategy for its own IT infrastructure. In doing so, your own hardware server should be replaced as completely as possible. The main challenge here was to meet the corporate requirements.
